Working for Humanity: A Glimpse into the World of Non-Profits

Posted by Guest Blogger on May 5, 2017 9:24:00 AM

Guest post by Colin Dean
Student at University of St. Thomas

As a business student at St. Thomas, I don’t get to hear much about opportunities at nonprofits. Our professors have work experience in the for-profit world and draw from that experience to create their lectures. I am a marketing student looking to start a career in analytics, but never thought about its applications in the non-profit area of business.

Posted by Blake MacKenzie on Feb 6, 2017 12:14:00 PM

Some Habitat volunteers swing hammers and raise walls on a build site. Others paint or do repair work for existing homeowners with Habitat’s A Brush With Kindness program. Still others advocate for affordable housing, assist shoppers in a ReStore, or help out in the office. And then there’s Jim Larsen. Jim travels across the Twin Cities as a ReStore Truck Assistant volunteer, collecting donations that will be sold to help fund Twin Cities Habitat’s mission. And it’s the perfect role for him.
