Especially in the era of remote work and comfortable, customizable home offices, it is crucial for businesses to invest in keeping their offices functional, comfortable, and modern if they want to encourage in-person working days. That might mean buying new office furniture from time to time. But there’s just one problem with purchasing new furniture–what do you do with all of the stuff you currently have? You donate it, of course! If you’re wondering where to donate, you’ve come to the right place.
Multiple organizations in the Twin Cities accept business furniture. Here's everything you need to know.
If you have gently used business furniture to get rid of, why not donate it to one of the following three organizations?
Donating to ReStore is easy! You can always drop off your donations at our locations in south Minneapolis and New Brighton. Our drop-off hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 3:00p.m. on Saturday.
Can't get the furniture to us? No problem! You can request a free or priority pickup online.
While any donation you make to a charitable organization is tax deductible and supports a cause, donating to ReStore helps people in your local community find housing they can actually afford. All proceeds from everything donated to ReStore support Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. From July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, 139 local families purchased Habitat homes with affordable mortgages. And ReStore helped fund the construction of five homes, thanks to the generosity of people just like you!
Another benefit of donating business furniture to ReStore is providing nice, affordable furniture to another business that might be just getting off the ground or an entrepreneur’s home office. Your impact from donating to ReStore is twofold: not only do the proceeds from the sale of your furniture help out local families, but you could also be providing useful items to a local startup, saving them money they can reinvest into their business.
Not to mention, if you donate business furniture, regardless of where you donate it, you also keep those items from being taken to a landfill. Perfectly good furniture in a landfill is wasteful and has negative consequences for the environment. Donating is a win-win-win-win for you, local businesses, families in the Twin Cities, and the environment!
