DIY Christmas Trees for Under $50 [VIDEO]

For this segment of WCCO's DIY Friday, hosts A.J. and Heather gave New Brighton ReStore Manager Jan a challenge: How many types of decorative trees can you make for less than $50? Turns out that with some creativity and simple supplies, you can make a lot!

Jan found all the items, supplies, and decorations for these ideas at ReStore and thrift stores:

• Corks
• PVC pipe and spray paint
• Wood blocks and paint
• Joinery biscuits
• Yarn and cones
• Rakes
• Picture frame molding, velvet, and a spigot top

Jan suggests, "Put your head sideways, look at something, and ask how it could be a Christmas tree. If you fail, just start over!" This is the season to be creative, and these thrifty ideas are great to make with kids or loved ones. Or make your own thoughtful, affordable gifts for friends!
