"It feels great working for the bigger cause of providing housing for families."
Volunteer Donna VonLehe chose Habitat for Humanity ReStore from a number of other volunteer opportunities after she retired for two great reasons:
She connected with the mission of Twin Cities Habitat.
It just made her feel good.
This video was captured before the COVID-19 pandemic. Your safety is always our priority, so we have these COVID-19 protocols in place at ReStore Outlets.
"When you volunteer, you want to feel like you belong and like you have a big purpose," Donna says in our spotlight video. "That's not always easy to do in a volunteer position, but you can do it at ReStore."
Moving items, educating customers, and showing them the value of ReStore let Donna contribute meaningfully to ReStore's mission of reducing the waste and footprint of individuals and businesses in the Twin Cities.
"I really wanted to connect with people who had some of the same values I did," Donna says. She started with a passion for helping those who need it then the rest came naturally: "I came in with very little experience in retail… I learned on the job. We all help each other."
