DIY Birdhouses [VIDEO]

We're thinking spring! In the latest segment of WCCO's DIY Friday, you'll find inspiration for creating your own birdhouse. Jan Hagerman, New Brighton ReStore Manager, shares entries from our recent DIY Birdhouse Contest.

ReStore shoppers and supporters were invited to create their own birdhouse. We received many creative entries:

• A duck-inspired birdhouse
• A fair house with flowers and more
• A birdhouse enhanced with stickers
• A cute, creative raccoon
• A repurposed light fixture
• and more!

Nearly 15 birdhouse entries were displayed at the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show in early March. Attendees, as well as our social media community, were able to vote on their favorites. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out who wins!

Make Your Own Birdhouse

When making a birdhouse, or any other DIY project, think about what materials you can reuse and keep from the landfill. And don't forget to engage your creativity! What can you do with materials, leftovers, or bits and bobs you already have?
