Tips & Tricks When Buying New or Used Doors [VIDEO]

Looking to give the exterior of your home a new look? Changing out your front door is a simple change with big impact. Same goes for the doors inside your home, and you don't have to buy them brand new.

At the ReStore, we're always getting door donations in great condition—interior, exterior, storm, patio, bi-folding closet doors, you name it! In this video, Jan Hagerman with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStore shares some simple tips on how to find what you're looking for.

What to do Before You Door Shop

To save yourself a trip, carefully measure the door at home you're planning to replace. If there's no door there currently, measure the door frame or the opening where the new door will be going and jot down the dimensions. Next, check whether or not your current door swings in or out, and identify which side of the door the knob is located.

These are just a couple quick and easy things you can do ahead of time, so that if you fall in love with a door while out shopping, you won't have to wonder whether or not it's the right fit. Plus, this will help our sales staff ad volunteers better assist you in finding what you're looking for.

Find Your Door at the ReStore

Doors are something we sell a lot of at our ReStore locations, and we get a number of new donations, too. If there's a door in your home you've been itching to replace, come check out our selection at either ReStore locations in South Minneapolis or New Brighton.

Here's a look at our regular business hours, and don't be shy to ask a team member for help when you're here. We're happy to point you in the right direction.
