2026 Give a Chair Some Flair DIY Contest

This winter, ReStore held its latest DIY contest: Give a Chair Some Flair! ReStore supporters displayed their upcycling skills by repurposing a complimentary chair from ReStore. Nineteen people submitted creative entries. Then, in early March, ReStore displayed the entries at the Minneapolis Home + Garden Show, and visitors to our booth could vote for their favorites (our social media followers could also vote)! Keep reading to see the winners and contributors from the contest.

Alyssa

Alyssa used chair legs to make a creative blanket ladder.

Anonymous 1

This contestant created a spring-inspired design with birds, leaves, and flowers.

Another anonymous contestant gave new life to a rocking chair.

Cathy (First Place)

Cathy's design used bright colors and fun sunflowers.

Dawn

Dawn's project also fit the flower theme, this time with soft blues and a colorful back and seat.

Heather crocheted orange accents on her chair for a bright statement.

James totally repurposed several chairs to make a bench complete with a bottom shelf!

Jan elevated her chair by turning it into a shelf.

Janelle hit the right note with her piano-inspired chair.
