Big Ideas, Small Spaces Contest Winners

Big Ideas, Small Spaces Contest Winners

Earlier in February, ReStore hosted a booth at the Minneapolis Home + Remodeling Show at U.S. Bank Stadium. Attendees who stopped by learned about ReStore—and had a chance to vote for the winners of our latest DIY upcycle challenge: Big Ideas, Small Spaces. For this contest, we asked participants to highlight their endless creativity by upcycling a smaller item from ReStore.

Keep reading to see before-and-after photos from our winners and contributors! Or, watch Jan share some entries on WCCO's DIY Friday.

First Place: Jamie's Chair

Jamie brought fresh life to a sturdy but outdated set of dining chairs. Sometimes all it takes is sandpaper, paint, and a little elbow grease!

Before photo: plain wooden dining chair. After photo: refinished dining chair with accents painted black.

Second Place: Lisa's Cabinet

Lisa used her creative eye to envision a totally new look for this set of drawers. You can check out her other projects at RusticModernMarket.

Third Place: Jewelry Case

Can you believe this jewelry case used to be a clock shelf? This anonymous participant created this case to be displayed on a dresser or hung on a wall.

Before photo: white wall clock with red heart. After photo: Open jewelry case with a mirror on top.

Even More DIYs!

We're so grateful for everyone who entered our Big Ideas, Small Spaces contest! We had many talented DIYers participate. Here are the rest of the entries.

Elle's Cabinet

Elle completely revamped this cabinet with a fresh coat of paint and unique tile design!

Before photo: Elle smiling next to a simple wooden cabinet. After photo: cabinet painted white with blue and white patterned tile on the door panels.

Janelle's Shelf

Check out Janelle's upcycled shelf featuring Amazon Paint from ReStore. She also used wooden blocks from ReStore to decorate the shelves.

Before photo: plain wooden shelf with three tiers. After photo: Shelf painted light gray with white floral accents. The shelves display pictures frames and wooden blocks with "love" and "create joy."

Kristin's Shelf

Kristin used her skill to turn an over-the-toilet wall shelf into an adorable shelf with hooks on the side.

Before photo: wooden shelf to hang over a toilet. After photo: Shelf painted red with original wooden door. Books are displayed on the top shelf, and a jacket is hanging from the right side.
