Why volunteer at the ReStore?

Why volunteer at the ReStore?

Just like Habitat for Humanity build and repair sites, our Twin Cities ReStores need amazing volunteers each and every day to keep the stores running smoothly and our customers happy!

Revenue from the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStores helped sponsor the building of six Habitat homes! Every year at our ReStores there are: 38,000 ReStore shoppers, 9,500 donations dropped off or picked up, 700 tons of building materials diverted from landfills, and 3,000 volunteers at each store.

Each year, our staff partners with 3,000 volunteers to receive donations, price inventory, stock our shelves, assist customer and generate revenue to help build Habitat homes. With the opening of our second location in Minneapolis this past fall, we're going to need even more help from our local community!

How can you get involved?

Join us as a one-day volunteer.

Tasks include assisting customers, loading and unloading merchandise and donations, taking on special projects as assigned, and helping to maintain a clean and attractive store, and you can sign up for as little as 3-4 hours, up to a full day!

Become a regular volunteer.

Our volunteers who make a weekly commitment are a crucial part of the ReStore team. Put your dedication and skills to good use by taking on a specific department, repairing merchandise, leading volunteers, planning special projects or helping with the day-to-day operations of the store. Regular volunteers commit to a regular schedule ranging from one day a month to multiple days a week!

Make a difference in your local community

A ReStore volunteer. The work of all these volunteer roles helps to keep over 700 tons of building materials out of landfills last year, and supported our sales team in generating enough revenue to help six Habitat for Humanity homes!

"When I ring up a big-ticket item, I get this thrill because I know money from every sale goes towards a family buying a home," said Hope, a regular cashier volunteer.

And it's not just Habitat's partner families that benefit from the work of ReStore volunteers. ReStore staff, donors, and shoppers rely on the extra sets of helping hands to make the ReStore donation and shopping experiences as smooth and as efficient as possible.

“Everyone here really respects the volunteer,” said Jim, a regular ReStore volunteer. “They consider you part of the team."
