When you donate an item to Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity's ReStore Home Improvement Outlets, you aren't just supporting Habitat—you're also supporting your community and the environment. Your donations keep usable items out of landfills and help ReStore stay sustainable. ReStores redistribute affordable household items to the community, creating revenue that supports local families on their paths to homeownership. ReStore staff cherish donations from the moment they leave your hands to the moment they find a new home. But what exactly does that journey look like? Let's dive in.
First, you're making a big difference by simply choosing to donate your item to ReStore. Rather than discarding your item to end up in a landfill, you're giving your valued donation a chance to find a new home. We're off to a great start!
Next, you'll either drop off your donation at one of our convenient metro ReStore locations or request a free or priority pick-up. Right after you donate, you'll get a 20% ReStore coupon as a thank you for your generosity.
After you've completed your donation, items are moved to the back of ReStore where they await inspection by a staff member. When determining the price of a donated item, staff consider a variety of factors: the type of donation, materials, quality, demand, and more. In order to maximize the impact of your gifts, staff members take care to ensure every item is priced fairly.
Finally, once a customer decides to give that item a new home, the money from that sale helps fund Habitat's mission. Learn more about how your donations impact Habitat!
Don't have anything to donate at the moment? You can still get involved. We are always looking for ReStore volunteers. During your four-hour shift, you might load and unload new items, help at the registers, assist shoppers, and more. Our staff members always welcome extra help, and they'll teach you everything you need to know. (Plus, you can keep an eye on items you might want to purchase for yourself.) No experience required!
Donations from businesses and individuals fuel ReStore's mission and are essential to what we do. Get started with your donation today!
