While the Carter Work Project brings an incredible surge of energy, visibility, and tangible impact to the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity, our mission extends far beyond a single week of service. The ongoing support from our community is what truly enables us to make a lasting difference in providing affordable and equitable housing. ReStore plays a pivotal role in this.
ReStore is our home improvement outlet, open to the public year-round. Our partners—ranging from local contractors, retailers, area businesses, and individuals—donate a wide variety of items, including cabinets, appliances, furniture, flooring, and more. If you’re not able to participate in the Carter Work Project, ReStore has you covered with several ways to make a lasting impact on your community.
Shopping at ReStore is about more than finding great deals on quality products. It's also about making a tangible difference to the environment. By shopping at Restore, you are also investing in the good of the planet. Last year alone, ReStore's efforts helped keep four million pounds of building materials, furniture, and appliances from entering our landfills, significantly reducing our environmental impact.
In addition to keeping great products out of our landfills, ReStore is a great place to discover unique, one-of-a-kind items you cannot find in retail stores at a much cheaper price. By choosing to shop at ReStore, you get high-quality products that support affordable housing initiatives–like the Carter Work Project!
Making a difference can be easy! Donations are what keep ReStore running strong. Do you have leftover building materials from a recent project or gently used items that no longer spark joy? Donating these items to ReStore is a simple yet impactful way to help others.
Just remember, to ensure ReStore can accept your donation, please make sure all items are clean, free of pet hair, and in working condition with no broken parts, rust, mold, or hand-painted finishes. Check out our donation guide for a complete list of acceptable items.
Once you have determined what you would like to donate, the how is pretty simple. You can either drop them off at our Minneapolis or New Brighton locations or request a free pickup for larger items!
After your item is donated, we will inspect it to ensure it is sales-ready. If it is not, we will repair, recycle, or upcycle the item. We will then determine a price to ensure that there is a great deal and send it out to the sales floor! By the way, we strongly recommend you subscribe to our Hot Deals email and VIP texts to get alerts on new products and flash sales!
So, even if you can’t join us for the Carter Work Project this year, remember that your involvement can continue in meaningful ways. Visit ReStore to shop, donate, and be part of the ongoing effort to create affordable housing in the Twin Cities. Your support is invaluable, and together, we can build a better future for everyone.
