If you're replacing your appliances, have you thought about what to do with your old stove, fridge, and more? Well, staff at our ReStore home improvement outlets would love to help find your old appliance a new home! The best part is that proceeds from your donation support affordable homeownership with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. Before you donate, though, take a few minutes to learn what is and what is not accepted at ReStore.

Although we accept many different types of appliances, there are some that sell faster or more often than others. Minneapolis ReStore Manager Jill said, “Refrigerators are the appliance that we always sell quickly. Gas stovetops sell fairly quickly as well.” Jill also said that there are "some great deals to be found on electric stoves at both stores."
If you're not donating appliances, you might be shopping for them! On the lookout for upgrades for your home? There may be more to buying an appliance than you initially thought. Jill said, “One of the biggest issues for people buying appliances at ReStore is that they do not know whether their house runs on gas or if it is electric.” With that in mind, make sure you know which type of appliance you need before you go shopping. Another important tip for appliance shopping is to know the dimensions of the space where your appliance will be going. Measure beforehand because some appliances vary in size.
Although it may seem difficult to do an upcycling project using an entire appliance, there are many opportunities to use different parts to create something completely new. See how Jan, New Brighton Manager, turned the drum of a washing machine into a fire pit!
Whether you are looking for a new refrigerator, looking to get rid of your lightly used stovetop, or trying to transform a washing machine into something new, we hope ReStore will be your first destination! Find the ReStore closest to you.
