Have you ever wondered what happens to leftover paint after you drop it off at one of the three Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations? Through our partnership with PaintCare, leftover paint collected at ReStore can be recycled into new products. One company helping make this possible is Amazon Paint, a paint recycling company based in Fridley, Minnesota.
Since 1992, Amazon Paint has been finding new uses for leftover water-based paint. The company has recycled millions of pounds of paint into new paint and other useful products, helping reduce waste and make better use of existing materials.
Amazon Paint works with PaintCare and other paint recycling programs across the United States to find environmentally responsible uses for leftover paint. These efforts help conserve natural resources and keep paint out of landfills and incinerators.
Amazon Paint begins by opening and inspecting each can of leftover paint to determine if it can be reused. Usable paint is sorted by color and mixed together in large tanks. The paint is then tested for viscosity, color, sheen, coverage, pH, and other quality standards. Adjustments are made as needed so the paint meets these standards. Finally, the paint is filtered and packaged for sale as recycled paint. Paint that can no longer be used for painting is turned into other products, such as materials used in cement manufacturing.
Amazon Paint produces its own brand of recycled latex paint called Amazon Select, made from quality surplus paint and available in 20 colors. It applies easily, provides excellent coverage, and offers affordable pricing for both interior and exterior projects. Recycled paint helps protect the environment by conserving the natural resources and energy needed to manufacture and transport new paint. It also reduces manufacturing waste and keeps leftover paint out of landfills, making it a cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice.
You can find Amazon Select recycled paint at Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations in Brooklyn Park, Minneapolis, and New Brighton. Available in one-gallon and five-gallon sizes at great prices, it’s a good option for projects big and small. By offering recycled paint like Amazon Select, ReStore helps give leftover materials a second life, reduce waste, and support its commitment to reuse and recycling to help protect the planet.
