The Grand Opening Weekend for the new Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Minneapolis was three days filled with fun and excitement for staff and customers alike!

In true Habitat style, things kicked off with a 2x4 cutting on Thursday morning with Habitat staff, volunteers and special guest, Amy Matthews. Once the doors opened, shoppers immediately began exploring the new space, and it was only a matter of second before the first "sold" sticker made an appearance on a piece of furniture.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday included fun giveaways of Habitat for Humanity coin banks, Valspar reusable shopping bags and Handy Paint Pails (while supplies lasted!). A few lucky shoppers also walked away with our giveaway items, including full ReStore punch cards (worth $10 off your next purchase) and Habitat swag bags. Congrats to our swag bag winners: Joan S., Richard C., Bill L., Nana A., Thomas R., and Jose A. And special congratulations to our grand prize winner, taking home a brand new refrigerator... Amanda L.!

On Saturday, things got even more exciting with a special appearance and DIY talk with Amy Matthews! Afterward, Amy hosted a meet & greet and signed photos for fans. She also hosted a Facebook Live event, answering fans' DIY questions (you can view the live Q & A session here).

A few other fun facts from this weekend:

  • We are a new stomping ground for the local fire department! They stopped by the store every day during our Grand Opening.

  • Many of our regular customers from our New Brighton store made a trip to see us and our new store - what a wonderful showing of support!

  • Our top-selling categories this weekend were: Appliances, Hardware and Paint.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made our Grand Opening weekend a successful, fun-filled event!
